This dynamic event will see social justice groups, activists, advocates, policymakers and community leaders gather for an inspiring two-day experience.

LOS ANGELES, April 25, 2024  — Rise Economy, a leading statewide economic, housing and racial justice nonprofit organization, is proud to announce it will host its first-ever conference, the Action and Advocacy Conference, on Nov. 13 and 14 in Los Angeles.

This transformative event will gather an array of rights and justice groups, activists, advocates, policymakers and community leaders for an inspiring two-day experience aimed at raising awareness for progressive public policy, amplifying marginalized voices, creating strong networks, and empowering individuals and communities to challenge systems of inequity.

The conference, themed “Systems Change,” will kick off with an evening reception on Wednesday, Nov. 13, providing attendees with an opportunity to connect and celebrate the remarkable achievements of changemakers committed to advancing social and economic justice.

On Nov. 14, participants will engage in a dynamic lineup of workshops, lectures and a plenary session—all designed to equip leaders with the tools, knowledge and connections necessary to challenge and dismantle the systemic barriers perpetuating economic inequality in California.

We’re taking nearly 40 years of high-level advocacy and policy experience and sharing it in a new and interactive way,” said Paulina Gonzalez-Brito, Chief Executive Officer of Rise Economy. “From sessions exploring grassroots organizing strategies to thought-provoking discussions on policy advocacy and community empowerment, this conference promises opportunities for learning, collaboration and resilience building.”

“Rise Economy’s Action and Advocacy Conference is for anyone looking to learn, connect and help build resilient communities throughout California,” said Jyotswaroop K. Bawa, Rise Economy’s Chief of Organizing and Campaigns.

“Rise Economy has a long track record of winning against powerful interests and helping secure billions for communities of color and policy changes that support a just economy. We are excited for Rise Economy to funnel that expertise into a singular experience that arms advocates and allies with the tools to not only support their communities but to thrive,” said Chancela al-Mansour, Executive Director of the Housing Rights Center and Rise Economy board chair.

The Rise Economy Action and Advocacy Conference is sponsored by Flagstar Bank, US Bank, Cathay Bank, PNC, California Bank & Trust, Banc of California, Pacific Premier Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank and Beneficial State Bank.
