San Francisco, CA—August 19, 2016—Today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced
that Paulina Gonzalez, executive director of the California Reinvestment Coalition, has been appointed as a new
member of the CFPB’s Consumer Advisory Board.
Gonzalez comments: “It’s an honor to be appointed to the Consumer Advisory Board. CRC member
organizations work to strengthen communities every day through affordable housing, small business lending,
financial counseling, community development, and more, and I’m excited about the opportunity to share their
perspectives and the experience of their clients with the CFPB.”
The CFPB was established to enforce federal consumer financial laws and protect consumers. The Dodd-Frank
Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act charged the CFPB with establishing the Consumer Advisory
Board to advise and consult with the Bureau’s Director on a variety of issues, including federal consumer
financial laws, emerging practices in the consumer financial services industry, regional trends, and other related
concerns. This year the CFPB turned five years old, and has achieved $11 billion in relief for over 27 million
consumers.
Consumer Advisory Board members serve three-year terms. Gonzalez will attend her first board meeting in
Washington, DC in October.
