Paulina Gonzalez, executive director of the California Reinvestment Coalition, released this statement in
reaction to the “skinny budget” released by the president yesterday:
“It’s been said that budgets are a reflection of priorities- but this budget represents a U-turn from the values that
were espoused on the campaign trail about standing up for Main Street families. Instead, the president has
proposed to defund programs that serve the elderly, working families, communities of color, renters, first-time
homebuyers, and small business owners throughout California. Meals for seniors, housing for families, loans for
small businesses, and access to legal services are all at risk under this proposed budget. The California
Reinvestment Coalition will oppose this attack on working families and we will work with our Congressional
delegation to also oppose this harmful budget.”
