Who Owns Your Neighborhood?

This is the central question we are trying to answer. Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) often shield owners' identities and assets, leading to serious issues such as substandard housing, wage theft, and exploitation of legal loopholes. Layers of anonymous LLCs make it difficult for enforcement agencies to hold owners accountable, allowing abuses to continue unchecked. That's why Rise Economy, alongside Public Advocates, supports SB1201, the LLC Owner Transparency Act. This bill can help us address this important question.

Why it Matters

SB 1201 aims to bring transparency to the ownership of limited liability companies (LLCs) and similar corporations. By requiring entities to disclose the names of individuals with substantial control, SB 1201 will shed light on ownership from the moment of creation and through biennial filings.
